Welcome to the rechargeable puffs section at Travers Shop. A category we created specifically for those who want puff-level simplicity, without the "I toss it after 500 puffs and my ecological conscience silently screams" side of things. Here, everything recharges, everything reuses, everything lasts.

Since February 2025, single-use puffs are no longer authorized for sale in France. Good news: it allowed us to finally sort things out and keep only what genuinely makes sense long-term. Rechargeable models, JNR-style and equivalents, offer the exact same ease of use, with a real economic and environmental advantage on top.

What exactly is a rechargeable puff

A rechargeable puff is a compact vaping device, ready to use straight out of the box, but whose battery and e-liquid can be recharged as many times as you want. The absolute opposite of the classic disposable puff that used to end up in the bin after a weekend, with its battery still vaguely functional.

The principle is easy to grasp. You have a rechargeable battery body with a USB-C port, like any other device in your modern life. You have replaceable pods or cartridges containing the e-liquid and the resistor that heats up. When a pod is empty, you replace it, you don't throw away the whole device. As obvious as the concept sounds, it took a law for the market to genuinely embrace it.

Why rechargeable rather than disposable

Because between paying for a brand new device every three days, or buying just a pod for a few euros, the math does itself, even without a master's degree. Over a month of regular use, a rechargeable puff costs considerably less than an endless chain of disposables, without even mentioning the lithium batteries that were being tossed by the hundreds of thousands.

The environmental argument isn't just marketing fluff for a clean conscience. A disposable lithium battery means several years of degradation in nature, potential fire risks in sorting centers, and consumption of rare resources for a ridiculous lifespan. Rechargeable, you extend the same device's life by ten or twenty times.

We chose to select rechargeable models that genuinely hold up, rather than dumping everything the market offered. In this section, we focus on recognized brands like JNR, with varied flavors, designs built to stay compact and practical, and real battery autonomy that doesn't quit on you after two hours.

The catalogue will grow progressively, with new flavors, new formats, and probably new brands tested and validated. Our internal rule stays the same as for the rest of the site: we don't sell what we wouldn't want to use ourselves.

How to choose your rechargeable puff

Three criteria to look at seriously before deciding. First, the flavor. You're not going to force yourself to vape something you hate just because the packaging looks nice. Mint, red berries, blonde tobacco, there's plenty to choose from, and the best approach remains testing several pods to find your profile.

Second, the nicotine level. If you're switching from regular tobacco use to vaping, a level too low will make you compensate by vaping constantly, a level too high will make your head spin with every puff. The classic starting rule sits around 10 to 20 mg for a regular smoker, to adjust based on how you feel.

Third, battery life and charging. A battery lasting a full day of use, a standard USB-C port, and ideally fast charging. Nothing more frustrating than a puff dying in the middle of a night out, or taking three hours to recharge.

The legal framework, clear and jargon-free

Rechargeable puffs are fully legal in France, provided they comply with the European TPD directive that has framed vaping products since 2016. That means: maximum e-liquid capacity, capped nicotine level, mandatory health warnings, and so on.

Second non-negotiable point: sale is strictly banned to minors. Anyone under 18, whatever their self-proclaimed maturity level on social media, cannot buy a puff, here or anywhere else. We apply this rule with zero exception, because it's the law and because it's just common sense.

Using your rechargeable puff properly day to day

A few simple reflexes to avoid classic hassles. First, never let your puff fully discharge repeatedly, that's the best way to kill the battery long-term. Recharge it regularly, rather than waiting for the last agonizing puffs.

Next, don't leave it in direct sunlight in the car in summer. A lithium battery at forty degrees Celsius is a cocktail we'd rather avoid. Same for extreme cold, which temporarily reduces autonomy.

Finally, replace your pods as soon as you notice a burnt taste or the vapor becomes noticeably less pleasant. Puffing on a worn-out pod means inhaling gunk we'd rather spare you, and it also damages the battery, which compensates by pulling harder.

Health prevention, straight talk

Vaping is not harmless for your health. It's recognized as less harmful than smoking tobacco, which explains its use as a smoking cessation tool, but that doesn't mean "risk-free". Nicotine remains an addictive substance, and regular inhalation of vapor, even from vaping, has effects that aren't yet perfectly understood on the very long term.

Our position, clearly: if you've never smoked and never vaped, there's no rational reason to start. If you're a smoker looking to reduce or quit, vaping remains a documented and useful tool, to use in full knowledge of what it involves.
