Powerful CBD Resins

Two very different families on the same shelf

Plenty of shops throw everything resinous into one bin and let you sort it out. We don’t. This section holds two families that look alike in the jar and behave nothing alike once you use them. The first is high-CBD resin, pollen and wax: hemp material worked down to its richest part, with high cannabinoid levels. The second is infused resin, enriched with psychoactive molecules, with effects ranging from strong to very strong. They share a shelf because both speak to people who already know what a resin is. That’s where the similarity ends, and we’d rather you hear it from us than find out on a quiet Tuesday evening while studying the ceiling.

The market loves a fog. One label says 40 %, the next promises an “XXL” effect, a third just prints a lightning bolt and hopes for the best. Nobody tells you what the number is actually measuring. We take the opposite approach: each family is described for what it is, with its figures, what they mean and, just as important, what they don’t.

Pollen, resin, wax: what the extraction method changes

Everything here starts from the same raw material: trichomes, the tiny glands covering the hemp flower where most cannabinoids and aromas sit. What sets one product apart from another is how those trichomes are collected. It’s the single most useful thing to know before you buy, and the thing glossy product pages tend to skip.

Pollen comes from dry sifting. Dried flowers are shaken over progressively finer screens and the powder that falls through is kept loose or lightly pressed. It’s crumbly, pale, and smells very close to the flower it came from.

Resin often starts as that same pollen, heat-pressed into a dense, darker paste. Other resins are made with ice water, which freezes the trichomes so they snap cleanly off the plant, or by hand-rubbing in the charas tradition of the Himalayas, which gives a sticky, intensely fragrant result. Heat darkens the colour and rounds off the aromas; cold keeps the bright notes and a softer texture.

Wax pushes extraction further. Depending on the method it can look like candle wax, set honey or brittle glass, and it’s the most concentrated format in the section. It’s also the least forgiving if you treat it like an ordinary resin.

Whatever the method, the process concentrates the material, which is why resins typically show cannabinoid levels three to five times higher than CBD flowers.

Reading a CBD percentage the right way

A resin labelled 30 % CBD holds, on paper, 300 mg of CBD per gram. That figure is about concentration, not about how strong anything will feel. The percentage documents a concentration, not an intensity of effect: it tells you how much CBD is in the material, not what you’ll experience or how hard. CBD isn’t intoxicating, and doubling the percentage doesn’t double an effect. The big numbers on the CBD side of this section are about density, not about fireworks.

There’s a second trap. Brands don’t all measure the same thing. Some state CBD alone, others state total cannabinoids, meaning CBD plus CBG, CBN and their relatives. A 25 % CBD resin and a 35 % total-cannabinoid resin can’t be compared head to head, and the second isn’t necessarily richer in CBD. Every product page in this section tells you which convention the brand uses. Check it before comparing, or you’ll be comparing miles with minutes.

Infused resins: where dosage really does mean intensity

Now the rules flip. Infused resins are not CBD products, even when they contain a little CBD. They’re enriched with psychoactive molecules such as 10-OH-HHC, and that molecule does the heavy lifting. Here, a higher dose means a more pronounced effect. A resin dosed twice as high carries twice as much of the molecule per gram, and you will notice.

This is the only family in the section we describe in terms of strength, and we stand by it: depending on the product, effects run from strong to very strong. Each page gives the exact dosage and where it sits against the other levels in its range. Whatever habits you built up with CBD, quantities included, don’t carry over. Start again from scratch. Your pride will recover.

Before your first infused resin

Start with an amount far smaller than you’d use with a CBD resin. Wait until the effect has fully settled before even thinking about more. Going back for seconds too early is the classic mistake, the one that turns a calm evening into a long, intimate relationship with the light fitting.

Don’t drive or operate machinery afterwards. Don’t combine these products with alcohol. And never let someone try an infused resin without telling them exactly what it is: the joke stops being funny at precisely the moment it stops being a joke.

These products are prohibited for anyone under 18 and must be kept out of reach of children and pets. A dog that swallows a lump of resin is nobody’s idea of fun, least of all the dog’s.

What CBD does, and what it doesn’t

CBD is sought after for its relaxing effect; it is neither a medicine nor a treatment, this product cures nothing and claims to cure nothing. Nobody can sell you a miracle in a jar, here or anywhere else, and anyone trying deserves a raised eyebrow.

Everything in this section is for adults only, and not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women or for anyone under medical treatment. CBD resins, pollen and wax contain less than 0.3 % THC, the regulatory threshold, which makes them legal to sell and to possess in France. Infused resins fall under a different regime: they are marketed within the current legal framework, and that framework is revised regularly where these molecules are concerned.

Packaging and sizes

Resin and pollen come as blocks or pieces, wax usually in small jars. Sizes depend on the brand and the product, and each page lists them. Smaller formats let you try a method or a molecule without committing a long-weekend budget; larger ones are for people who already know what they like and are tired of reordering every other week.

Keeping resin and wax in good shape

Air, light and heat are the enemies. Resin left out dries, hardens and loses its aroma. Wax left near a radiator turns into a sticky puddle that forgives neither fingers nor furniture. Keep everything in its original container, tightly closed, somewhere cool and dark. The fridge works for wax as long as you avoid constant in-and-out trips, which cause condensation. And store it all well away from the snack cupboard.

Where to look next

If you prefer flower to paste, our strong CBD flowers section plays in the same league as this one. For more classic concentrates, the CBD resins and wax section covers the full range. Every infused product in the shop, whatever the format, is gathered under molecules. To explore other cannabinoids, head to CBN and CBG. Prep and storage gear lives in accessories, and the whole catalogue sits under CBD.

Frequently asked questions

How is a high-CBD resin different from an infused resin?

A CBD resin contains a high concentration of CBD, and its percentage measures quantity, not intensity. An infused resin is enriched with a psychoactive molecule, and its dosage translates directly into effect, from strong to very strong. They aren’t two levels of one product; they’re two different products sharing a shelf.

Why does wax show higher levels than resin?

Because the extraction goes further and strips out more plant material. Less carrier, more cannabinoids per gram. On a CBD product, that’s a gain in concentration and nothing more.

Where should I start with infused resin?

With the lowest-dosed product in the range, and a tiny amount of it. Let the effect settle completely before taking any more, don’t drive, skip the alcohol. If you’re torn between two levels, pick the lower one. Nobody has ever regretted being careful, whereas the opposite has ruined plenty of evenings.

The essentials

This section brings together two families. CBD resins, pollen and wax show levels three to five times higher than flowers thanks to the extraction method (dry sifting, ice water, heat pressing, hand-rubbed charas) and contain less than 0.3 % THC: their percentage measures concentration, not intensity, and whether a brand counts CBD alone or total cannabinoids changes how you read the figure. A 30 % resin holds 300 mg of CBD per gram. Infused resins are not CBD: their dosage translates into effect, from strong to very strong; they are marketed within the current legal framework, prohibited for under-18s, to be kept out of reach of children and pets, dosed very low, and kept well away from alcohol and the steering wheel. The entire section is for adults only.
