CBD, THC and Road Traffic Law
CBD is legal, chill, and relaxing… but the road has absolutely zero sense of humor. The Court of Cassation made it clear: if a test detects THC in your system (even THC coming from perfectly legal CBD), it counts as an offense. Saliva tests don’t care whether it came from an illegal joint or a little CBD oil you took to sleep. Result: legal use can still land you in trouble. THC can remain detectable for hours—sometimes days—and the penalties are harsh: up to 2 years in prison, a €4,500 fine, 6 points off your license, suspension… and immediate license cancellation for new drivers. If you get tested, stay calm, ask for a counter-analysis, and always keep proof of purchase. Moral of the story: CBD is fine. CBD + driving is not. And CBD + roadside test is definitely not the combo you want.

Senate Rejects the E-Liquid Tax
The Senate has rejected the amendments of the 2026 Finance Bill that proposed a new tax on e-liquids (€0.03/ml for liquids ≤ 15 mg/ml and €0.05/ml for those > 15 mg/ml), the ban on online sales of electronic cigarettes, and the increase of VAT on CBD flowers and resins (from 5.5% to 20%). This vote gives the vape industry a real breath of fresh air: prices remain stable, online purchasing stays allowed, and CBD products avoid a sharp price rise. However, nothing is final yet: the text will now move to the Joint Parliamentary Committee before returning to the National Assembly, where these measures could be reintroduced. The sector has gained a reprieve, but vigilance remains essential.
