Why is my e-liquid changing colour?
No, your liquid isn't mutating into a sentient being. It changes color (usually toward brown) because of nicotine oxidation from contact with air, light, and heat. It’s like a sliced apple turning brown: it looks ugly, but it’s rarely dangerous for your health.
From a chemical standpoint, nicotine is photosensitive and reacts with oxygen. The higher the nicotine level, the more noticeable the color change. If the liquid in your tank turns dark very quickly, it’s also a sign that your coil is charred and leaking carbonized residue into your precious juice.
