What is an 18650/21700 battery?

These aren't nuclear launch codes, just dimensions. The 18650 is the classic standard, while the 21700 is its beefed-up big brother: bigger, heavier, but with enough battery life to outlast a political speech.

The code is simple: the first two digits are the diameter (18mm or 21mm), the next two are the length (65mm or 70mm), and the 0 indicates a cylindrical shape. A 21700 generally offers higher capacity (mAh) and a higher discharge current.
