What is the difference between the TPD and French regulations?
French regulation is a strict application of the European TPD, but it adds specific transparency and health safety requirements for the national market. While the TPD sets the global framework, such as the 10ml maximum volume for nicotine liquids or the 20mg/ml cap, France requires a highly detailed declaration of every ingredient via ANSES for total traceability.
The French framework is also characterized by strong self-regulation, driven by committed players who often exceed legal obligations to guarantee product purity. Unlike some European neighbors, inspections in France are frequent and rigorous, ensuring that what is on the label is actually in the bottle. It is essentially the "high-security" version of an already very protective European directive.
