What is acrolein?
Acrolein is a highly irritating chemical compound formed by the thermal decomposition of vegetable glycerin when it is heated above its critical threshold of 290°C. Under normal use, your e-liquid vaporizes well below this temperature, ensuring that this gas is virtually absent from your daily clouds.
This compound only truly appears during extreme overheating, particularly during a "dry hit" when the dry wick allows the coil to thermally runaway. Acrolein is specifically responsible for that unbearable burnt taste and the immediate cough reflex, acting as a natural alarm signal for your body.
