Why do some liquids become darker?
Color change is a natural phenomenon primarily caused by nicotine oxidation and the reaction of certain flavorings to air or light. Nicotine is a sensitive molecule that turns brown when exposed to oxygen, explaining why your liquid can shift from clear to amber-orange or even dark brown over time.
Some complex flavors, especially desserts high in vanillin or sugars, also tend to darken naturally during steeping or under the heat of your coil. This chromatic shift doesn't necessarily mean the product has expired, but rather reflects active chemistry within the bottle.
