Tips & Guides

Why are certain flavourings banned?

The prohibition of certain flavorings is based on their proven toxicity when inhaled or their chemical instability when heated. Unlike the stomach, your lungs lack protective filters against oils or lipids, which can cause severe lipoid pneumonia if vaporized.

Substances such as diacetyl, parabens, or certain oily compounds are banned from professional formulations because they can decompose into irritating or harmful molecules upon contact with the coil. Regulations also exclude flavorings that might appeal to minors or contain additives untested for vaporization. Ultimately, if a flavor is banned, it is to ensure your sensory pleasure doesn't turn into a perilous chemical experiment for your respiratory system.
