How do you make a coil?

Making a coil is like making a bead necklace, but with a risk of a short circuit if you’re particularly clumsy. You take a resistive wire and wrap it around a jig to form a regular spiral. The goal is a clean resistance without overlapping wraps; otherwise, you’ll get a hot spot and the lovely taste of a burning tire on your first puff.

Once wrapped, install it into the deck posts and screw it down tight. The technical tip: dry burn your coil at low power to ensure it glows evenly from the center outwards. If it heats unevenly, give it a little stroke with ceramic tweezers to stabilize everything before wicking.
